~ me: u looking for me?
~ aunt: Short of 1 leg! Oops.. Wrong number.. suppose to call C****...
~ me: .............
Oh yes, its day time in singapore, my usual saturday mahjong session due to begin soon.. as i am lying in bed in Markham..
I remember when i was little, i used to sit by my grandma while she was playing mahjong.. i would just sit there n not move or run little errands like take drinks or food etc at anyone's request.. i would even babysit my little cousins.. perhaps thats how my fatal addiction for mahjong started.. just watching the adults play it weekly.. indoctrination..
Now, more than 10 years later.. the scenario has kinda changed.. now i am the one sitting at the table, with my grandma at my side.. sometimes leashing out advice.. solicited or unsolicited.. anyways, thats a way how i spend my saturdays with her too.. when i am home of coz.. at times, of coz, she would also be at the table.. since she has fallen sick last year, she hasnt been able to sit at the table for too long.. so we decided to let her do half days instead of full day sessions.. which at the end of it, she would complain of backaches and stuff.. actually that also happens to my young (in comparison) and wasted body.. (shall not start complaining of my stupid plane rides and how damaged my health and body is due to the extensive traveling).. ever read of reports that says mahjong prevents the old from getting senile.. i guess its true coz my grandma is more alert than ever.. especially sometimes at end of day, i am already "lost" in my cards but she would still have the fresh perspective.. so even when you are young, it doesnt mean much.. guess thats why pp say.. the older the wiser... so we shld all look forward to growing old? haha..
Today May 5 is the birthday of a special someone.. but unfortunately, both of us are down with flu.. he was in bangkok when he starting feeling sick.. urghhh.. stupid flubug.. stop bugging us.. this is the first audit trip that i actually fell sick on the job... never happened in the last 1.5yrs... guess its worst for him since its his birthday..well, this is yet another year I am not celebrating his birthday with him...i cant even remember when the last time was.. where did all my special days go to?!?! i guess the previous year marked many milestones for him... some things he would surely remember or have reminded me to remind him for the rest of his life.. some call it the turning point..
Happy Birthday to my Future!!!
With love,
From your future lady of leisure...
